Sony CEO, Kazuo Hirai announced that Sony will be cutting 6% of its workforce due to their restructuring plans.  They plan to roll this out over the next two years, extending into March 2014.  We were kind of expecting this with many of Sony's business units fluttering and the reinvestment into Sony's TV operations with Hirai cutting an entire layer of management so he can more effectively have visibility into their televisions business. And everyone is thinking - what is Yahoo's plan?  It congers memories of another famous last stand by a Colonel George Custer; famous for an epic defeat by Sioux warriors at the Battle of Little Big Horn.  Except this battle is playing out in Sunnyvale, and the battle has just started with the slaughter of 2,000 Yahoo employees.  With a Facebook lawsuit looming, it's time to rally the remaining 18,000 employees with a concrete plan of action as opposed to relying on the dwindling power of Big Purple. Yahoo CEO, Scott Thompson, Terminates 2000 employees due to 'restructuring'.  This comes on the heels of a desperate patent lawsuit against Facebook and subsequent countersuit against the bloated internet giant.  It looks like Scott Thompson's new strategy is cutting costs and stealing money from other companies.  To quote Scott in his note to employees: "We are intensifying our efforts on our core businesses and redeploying resources to our most urgent priorities. Our goal is to get back to our core purpose – putting our users and advertisers first – and we are moving aggressively to achieve that goal."
